Invaluable Notes: Randy Pausch's Lecture

Notes from Randy Pausch's Lecture, Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams (link)

"wait long enough and people will surprise and impress you. When you are pissed off at somebody and you are angry at them, you just haven't given them enough time. Give them a little more time and they will almost always impress you."

How many times we respond instantly within ourselves to other people's behavior. We become angry inside instantly hearing things we don't like, we feel connected instantly if we hear something good from them. People say first impression lasts long, and that's the problem. If a person is mature and patient he/she would not create any impression from any instantaneous reactions. But if the person is not mature and patient he/she may conclude something totally opposite of the other person. Instantaneous reactions are bad, especially when you are not conscious about them.

Thats right. Many times we react immediately without thinking its long term effects. Usually everyone likes to judge others immediately. They simply can not hold themselves for some more time.

Hi Maulik,
First of all, please allow me to comment something unrelated to your post. I have some 'personnel' questions to you.

R u Maulik Kataria from who stayed in Morbi, lalbagh, C block?
Is your father Eye specialist?
Are you the one who was learning 'tabla' back in past?

If yes, than you may be knowing me personnally. I am Jaydip Mehta. I was learning 'harmonium' while you were learning 'tabla' from same sir, if you can recall!

Thanks,
Jaydip Mehta

Hi Jaydip,

Wow. Such a small world. Everything you said is correct. I don't have much memory of that music class (esp about other students), but I was actually learning harmonium and my brother did tabla. However once in a while I used to play Tabla because I like it a lot. I am sorry my poor memory is not helping me much. Wow that's quite old memory actually. But good to hear from Somebody from my hometown :)

Regards,
-Maulik

Actually problem is not with your memory. I am kind of person who never comes in lime light or say noticeable person.

I still remember those days of going to learn harmonium, your father's janana hospital, you and your brother coming to music classes, lalbag, its 'B' & 'C' blocks, V C Tech high scool ... ... ... ...

But as far as I remember I don't actually know if there was any other batch close to mine in music. May be there was some time. But anyway these are some good old golden memories my friend. I actually left Morbi quite some time ago when I went to Amdavad to do engineering in Nirma Inst. So I miss Morbi a lot. Do you have an email address we can communicate through?
